64 Slice Cardiac CT Scans
Computed Tomography Computed Tomography (CT) with Helical Capabilities. Aarthi Scans has three Siemens Spiral CT Scanners with slip ring technology, which decreases patient table time and increases quality and convenience. This is commonly known as spiral or helical scanning. All the machines have 3D reconstruction and Angiography. Aarthi Scans has Advanced Windows Workstation and Virtual Colonoscopy. For CT exams requiring contrast, Aarthi Scans uses non-ionic contrast media.
Aarthi Scans offers CT screening imaging tests. The following screening test menu enables you to choose which areas you wish to have screened, either one screening test or in any combination:
CT Screening Abdomen Can detect unsuspected abnormalities of Liver, Kidney, Gall bladder, or Adrenal glands.
CT Screening Lung For patients (such as smokers) with high risk for developing emphysema or mas-ses in the lungs.
CT Screening Pelvis Can detect symptomatic, unsuspected abnormalities of bowel, ovaries, prostate gland or bladder.
Virtual Colonoscopy A non-invasive method of screening for colon cancer and other bowel diseases.
This is a procedure performed using a multi-slice CT. The current multi-slice CT that exquisitely produces coronary artery images, is a 64-slice CT scanner from Siemens.
This scanner has a special x-ray tube and rotation speed, capable of performing 3 rotations in a second. In each rotation, 64-slices are produced, giving us approximately 194 slices per second. This is the fastest scanner in the industry, currently.
Speed is extremely important in our ability to "freeze" the heart. Since the heart is a rapidly moving structure, the only way to image structures within it, is if we can scan as fast as the heart beats or close enough.
All scans are gated to the ECG trace. This allows us to position our data acquisition accurately in specific phases.
Using this modality we can perform the following procedures as part of a cardiac CT examination.
Calcium scoring Coronary artery imaging Functional assessment
